Therapy

“The right to health is vital to every child.”

Uhuru Child Care visits families on a regular basis to provide physiotherapy. The next objective is to establish three centres to provide care. These centres will be situated in urban and rural areas in Belele, Khungwa and Gogode village in Kasungu District.

Basic Needs

“Every child has the right to enough nourishing food to eat.”

Another fundamental objective of UCC is to provide monthly supplies of food and hygiene products to the children and families cared for by the association.

Education

“All children have a right to education.”

To enable children with disabilities to attend school, Uhuru Child Care facilitates access to the school by making it easier for children to move around independently (wheelchair) and by building accessible toilets.

Awareness

“Dissemination of information to eradicate stigma and discrimination.”

The main goal is to reach out to the population and teach them to accept children with Cerebral Palsy. UCC organises public events to prevent discrimination, such as marches and film screenings in villages. Furthermore, UCC seeks to eliminate the abuse of children with CP by empowering religious and community leaders through education.
